SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing and advancing the financial operations of a fast-growing FTTH infrastructure company. This position is responsible for end-to-end accounting functions including general ledger management, financial reporting, reconciliation, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and technical accounting skills, with experience in both day-to-day accounting and high-level financial strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish, document and modify financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Enhance and improve current processes through improved automation and systemization
  • Review, modify, close monthly/quarterly/annual books - Heavy General Ledger management, journal entry preparation, subledger and reconciliation to general ledger accounts, month end accruals 
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and analysis including but not limited to deferred revenue, Work in Process/Capital Expenditures, Fixed Assets, Contract Assets, Capital/Financed Leases, Right of Use Assets, and more
  • Income Statement Analysis including but not limited to Compensation & Benefits, Operational Expenses, Revenue Recognition, Cost of Goods, Project Costs
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting internal audits and providing information to external auditors
  • Support Vero AP and AR/Invoicing function (minimal time commitment today); develop comprehensive AP/AR support structure as business scales in complexity (leveraging additional staffing or outside resources as needed)
  • Manage all tax rating and remittance efforts, leveraging outside consultant as appropriate, including income, corporate, property, sales/use/telecom, franchise, and other taxes
  • Support processes related to cash management strategy, including bank selection, investment strategy, and liquidity plan
  • Manage and modify investor and employee equity program, including capitalization table, distribution waterfalls, and new equity grant valuations
  • Perform periodic company valuations, as needed for new stock grants, leveraging outside valuation experts
  • Prepares forecasts and budgets by building complex models, gathering and validating assumptions, collecting and analyzing data; make recommendations based on this information
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenses, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
  • Help to implement employee and/or consultant compensation and commission plans
  • In conjunction with operations team, manage capital expenditure program, including forecast, and ensure sufficient cash position to meet these needs
  • Prepare quarterly investor/board financial presentations; Present material to internal management
  • Assist in the integration of new accounting softwares, manage migration and any custom development/automation
  • Comply with federal and state accounting requirements by studying accounting policy and enforcing adherence
  • In conjunction with legal team, manage Vero regulatory and financial filing requirements, including new filings, with Secretaries of State, Departments of Revenue, Public Utility Commissions, and other state and local entities
  • In conjunction with operations, define and manage vendor evaluation, on-boarding, and risk management
  • Facilitate growth of business by identify, hiring, training and managing additional staff and/or outside consultants
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred (not required)
  • Minimum 3-7 years’ experience in accounting/finance
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Proven experience with general ledger management, journal entries, and month-end close processes
  • Experience preparing and analyzing balance sheet reconciliations and income statement variances
  • Demonstrated ability to manage accruals, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and capital expenditures
  • Proficiency with financial systems and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including use of pivot tables, complex formulas, and data modeling
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment

JOB DETAILS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This role requires occasional travel up to 10% of the time for activities such as out-of-town meetings, training, or outreach activities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid Driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR screen.

  • The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday during standard business hours with weekend availability as necessary to fulfill the core duties of the role.
  • This position requires the ability to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time, using a computer and other office equipment.
  • This position requires the ability to perform fine motor tasks, such as typing or using a mouse, for extended period of time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Base pay is paid at an hourly rate/annual salary rate. The range for this position is $78,000 to $82,000 depending on experience.
